The simple elegance that comes from the bright blooms of a beautiful bouquet always makes me smile…what’s not to love about the delicate stems bursting with color? Buying a bouquet from the store or farmer’s market is great, but being surrounded by a whole field of blooms – there’s nothing better. We’ve rounded up a list of floral farms in the area to enjoy throughout the fall season! Listed in no particular order.

Bochner Farms
Location: Indianola, 17072 88th Ave, Indianola, IA 50125
Tucked away on a gravel road 30 minutes outside of Des Moines, this farm is a perfect picture of serene nature. Add a quaint cottage in the midst of the gardens…can it get any better? Grab a ticket for a U-Pick Experience, Garden walk, Yoga in the Garden, or a Sunset Farm Tour to experience this farmland’s beauty. Personally, I can’t wait for the Autumn Garden Party!
Rose Farmstead
Location: Norwalk, 7197 43rd Ave, Norwalk, IA 50211
When you arrive at the Rose Farmstead, you’ll be captivated by the beauty of Iowa farmland that has been wonderfully cultivated to become the extensive farm that it is today. If you’re wanting to dig even deeper into all things flowers, they are a perfect place to learn from with their classes, workshops, and lectures.
Pepperharrow Farm
Location: Winterset, 1809 S 4th Ave, Winterset, IA 50273
Want to make florals the star of the show for your next crafty girl’s night or romantic date night? Pepperharrow has the most charming events hosted on the farm – and all floral themed of course! Experience based events include an al fresco dinner in the field or pizza night with stargazing on the farm. Craft events include lavender soap making, perfume making, or botanical dyed tea towel making. You really can’t go wrong here!
Jester Hill Farm
Location: Madrid, 12430 Northwest 128th Street, Madrid, Iowa
With weekly options to pick your own bouquet, this is a great option to gather a group of your floral loving friends! Each Wednesday and Saturday, the farm has open hours to cut your own flowers to create an arrangement. Another way to capture the blooms is date night on the farm. With a reservation comes a charcuterie board, wine, and dessert, all while enjoying the sunset from the flower fields.
Wren & Willow
Location: Des Moines, at the Downtown Des Moines Farmer’s Market or delivery!
You’ve likely seen this vendor at the Downtown Farmer’s Market each Saturday or partnering with small businesses in the area. Their bouquets are filled with stunning specialty cut flowers. If you can’t wait until the Farmer’s Market, visit their website for a convenient delivery order.
Howell’s Greenhouse
Widely known for their pumpkin patch, Howell’s also owns a large greenhouse and sunflower fields which are highly encouraged for photography. Throughout the season, they offer workshops to help you create your own dried floral wreaths, fresh floral bouquet arrangements, and other crafts. Keep your eye out for their flower festival – this is when you can pick your own bouquet from the fields!
Be sure to make your way to these farms in the next few weeks to catch their fall and holiday season line ups. Lots are happening through the holidays at these locations even in the “off-season” – and they’re the most fun of the year.
