This Friday night staple at the Gas Lamp is great for fans of guitar heavy blues. Bob has played for the greats like Jimmy Vaughan, John Mayall, and Tower of Power. Catch him with a full band every Friday night at Gas Lamp.


Keep Push’n: REO Speedwagon Tribute Band at Wooly’s

Playing all of REO Speedwagon’s greatest hits from the 70’s through the millennium; Keep Push’n is bringing a rock and roll night you won’t soon forget. Their lead vocalist has a voice so similar to Kevin Cronin’s that you would have no way of knowing the difference if your eyes were shut! Come listen for yourself!  Masks are required at this venue.


Tony Bohnenkamp at Smash Park

Since their humble beginnings as underclassmen at Iowa State, the band has picked up steam all over Iowa. This four person group is playing all your favorite covers and ready to get the crowd moving.  Bring a chair, grab some grub from local vendors and get ready to move!


Max Wellman & His Big Band: Back in Business

Local vocalist, Max Wellman, is back in business accompanied by an 18 piece band. Featuring musicians from all over the country as well as a few local favorites, this night is filled with cabaret and jazz favorites. This is a great excuse to get yourself back to Hoyt Sherman Place for a fancy night out!

Local hip-hop band, Free PWR! will be taking the stage at xBk Live Saturday night. We keep saying it, but xBk really is the coolest venue in Des Moines right now. Blending golden era lyrics with live and digital instrumentation, their unique sound can’t be beat. This will also be the debut performance for up and coming rapper, Denjay.


The Sons of Gladys Kravitz at The Whiskey House

Where are our Ankeny people at? This is your second opportunity to see the Sons of Gladys Kravitz this weekend! Specializing in all the greatest music from the last 50 years, the Sons of Gladys Kravitz play hits ranging from the Allman Brothers to ZZ Top. Drawing crowds to venues all over central Iowa, this is sure to be a crowd pleaser.


Blacktop Mojo at Lefty’s

Avey Grouws Band

This chart topping blues band is bringing their music to the great outdoors. Originally from the Quad Cities, their music packs as much, if not more, power than any band found along the Mississippi.  The Cellar recommends making reservations. They will also have a local food vendor on site!


The Travelers at Summerset Winery

Local fans of soul, blues and jazz will love the sounds of this Des Moines group. Whether it’s putting their own spin on a classic or a unique original, their music is the perfect soundtrack to a Sunday afternoon. Kids enter for free, so bring the whole fam!
