If you haven’t been into The Surety Hotel, write it down on your goal list for Summer 2022 NOW. Anybody who has been to the Surety Hotel knows what we’re talking about. You may find yourself there for a wedding, a bachelorette party, yoga class, staycation, dinner at the Mulberry Street Tavern, hosting a happy hour, or a great working lounge during the day. It’s the perfect space that’ll transport you to the feeling of a much larger city. Plus, it’s dog friendly!
Even better? They’re opening their patio in JUNE – equipped with frozen drink machines and live music. Make sure to follow the Surety Hotel and Des Moines Girl on social to stay tuned for that opening – likely the coolest new patio opening this year! Should we host a happy hour there when it opens? The Surety Hotel opened in 2020 and has made a splash on the Downtown Des Moines scene since. We decided to take advantage of the space for a happy hour on Friday, May 6, for DMSG’s friends and family. The experience was smooth, seamless, and absolutely stunning. DSMG’s First Birthday Happy Hour in the Surety Lounge
On Friday, May 6, we hosted friends and family of DSMG to celebrate our first year in business in the Surety Lounge and it was the perfect set up. We couldn’t recommend it more for a gathering space this summer! The Surety team reserved a space in front of the windows next to a pool table and fireplace for the perfect lounge space. They prepared an array of small bites including sliders, chef’s plates of charcuterie, and cacio e pepe arancini bites, and served us delicious old fashioned and spritz cocktails.
As the night went on, live music started playing and other parties started gathering post-weddings, before and after dinner at the Mulberry Street Tavern, and guests who were staying in the hotel. It was a lively, energetic, and swanky evening to celebrate our first year live!
A huge thank you to the full planning and service team for hosting us. We love you!

Courtyard Opening!
Surety Courtyard opens in early June. The Surety Courtyard is a seasonal extension of the Surety Hotel Lobby Lounge. Open daily from 4:00pm – 10:00pm in warmer months, the Surety Courtyard provides an upscale and casual space to share snacks with friends, connect over a cocktail, and enjoy one of the city’s most vibrant patio bars. Stay tuned for the opening day!
